Rankings methodology
Global Revenue
Companies are ordered by documented annual revenue for a single fiscal year, converted to US dollars. Fiscal years are never mixed to fill the ranking. The page states how many companies have documented data; we never call it a “Top 100” unless 100 companies qualify.
Fiscal years and reported currency
Each fiscal year is stored separately with the revenue and currency exactly as the company reported them. The original figure is never overwritten.
USD conversion
USD values are used only to compare companies internationally. We use the average exchange rate for the company’s fiscal period, never the rate on the day we collected the data, and we record the method, rate and source. Companies that report in USD are not converted.
Revenue growth
Growth = (current fiscal-year revenue − previous fiscal-year revenue) ÷ previous fiscal-year revenue × 100, calculated in the reported currency. It is shown only for two consecutive, comparable fiscal years; if the currency, reporting basis or period changes, growth is not shown.
SEC EDGAR
For companies that file with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, revenue is read automatically from the SEC’s official XBRL data (data.sec.gov). Only annual reports (10-K, 20-F, 40-F and their amendments) are used; quarterly reports never count as annual revenue. When several revenue concepts could apply and disagree, the figure goes to editorial review instead of being published. Each figure links to its filing and accession number.
Source quality A–E
A: audited statements, SEC or regulatory filings. B: official company disclosure or a recognized institution or association. C: reputable industry publication. D: other secondary source. E: weak or unverified source. Source quality is separate from review status, and D or E sources are never eligible.
Data status
Verified: a validated A source. Officially Reported: a B source directly attributable to the company or institution. Industry Reported: a reputable C source without primary documentation.
Missing data
Missing data is shown as missing, never as zero. Absence from a ranking does not imply poor company performance; sufficient comparable data may simply be unavailable.
Publication
New data first updates an internal preview. An editor reviews it and publishes; each publication is saved permanently with its positions, previous positions and methodology version. Positions are calculated from the data and are never edited by hand.
Corrections
Anyone can request a correction with evidence. Requests are reviewed by editors and never change published data automatically.
